Taki: An Introduction

Taki is a picturesque town located on the banks of the Ichamati River, near the India-Bangladesh border in West Bengal. Steeped in history and cultural significance, Taki has long been a hub for trade and interaction between communities on both sides of the river.

The town’s history is marked by the presence of the Taki Rajbari, the ancestral home of the region’s landlords, which reflects the architectural grandeur and feudal history of Bengal. This place is also known for its communal harmony, especially during Durga Puja, when the river becomes a symbolic link between India and Bangladesh, with shared celebrations and rituals.
